Sailor is celebrating an important milestone in 2021, the 110th anniversary of its founding in 1911. 2021 was an important year for Sailor who re-designed the corporate identity inserting the fountain pen factory inside a the future. And the Sailor 110th Anniversary collection is exactly a leap into the future.
Sailor 110th Anniversary Kurogane is a limited edition fountain pen to only 1100 pieces worldwide made with stainless steel and a perfect cylindric design. The black color is made by a black electrolytic coloration technology.
Unlike plating or painting, this technology grows an ultra-thin black oxide film on the surface of the material and uses light interference to recognize the color, so there is no risk of peeling off. The coloration technology is an integral part of the genuinely black material giving it excellent durability and weather resistance.
The fountain pen cap is adorned with a decorative ring where "Since 1911" in engraved. It also serves to protect the clipless body from damage. The center cap band is engraved with the new Sailor logo and the serial number is located on the body bottom.
Naturally the 110th Anniversary fountain pen is fitted by a bicolor 21 KT gold nib with the special "110th" engraving. Every fountain pen comes in a chestnut wood box hand made by Ayayuki Kosaka with the special woodworking techniques of Hida Takayama.
