Platinum Preppy Wa Modern Maki-e Fountain Pen Kiku-Karakusa Limited Edition

Featuring a total of six patterns, the Preppy WA Modern Maki-e convey the elegance and grace of Japanese tradition incorporated into a modern design using a distinctive modern Maki-e technique. Each pattern symbolizes a special auspicious sign so that you can choose your own favorite based on the design or meaning.

Unlike conventional Maki-e, it is applied with silk screen printing instead of urushi lacquer on the under layer, which is then sprinkled with colored powders such as gold and silver and hand finished one by one by Maki-e artisans. It gives more thickness compared to normal printing, while the reflections and shades of the powders create a three-dimensional feel.

Platinum Preppy fountain pen comes with a steel nib and a Slip & Seal cap mechanism that prevents ink dry until 1 year of not use. Platinum Preppy accepts Platinum ink cartridge or Platinum converter for filling the fountain pen via an ink bottle.

Entrusted with the hope for longevity, Kiku-Karakusa pattern comprised of Chrysanthemum flowers and karakusa (ivy) was used on crafts from the Kamakura period (1185-1333) as well as on various items including Noh costumes, Buddhist ritual objects, kimono and Japanese accessories.

The pen comes in a carton box with one blue-black cartridge.
