Platinum 3776 was developed in 1978 in collaboration with the late Mr. Haruo Umeda, a Japanese writer and a fountain pen collector, in pursuit of the ideal fountain pen. Named after Mount Fuji’s altitude, Japan’s highest peak, the pen conveys the hope of the company to create the best fountain pen in the country.
Thirty-three years later, in 2011, Platinum renewed 3776 series with the 3776 Century. A fountain pen equipped with the “Slip & Seal Mechanism” that prevents ink from drying out. It became Platinum Pen’s iconic model immediately and has been lovingly used by a large number of customers.
To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of 3776 Century, Platinum is proud to present a 10th Anniversary limited edition. The fountain pen has been designed by incorporating the distinctive gathered surface of the first 3776 model into the body of the current design. While retaining the visual impressions of the original design, the limited model has adopted a nearly-flat crown, exuding a nostalgic and elegant feel. A logo commemorating the 10th anniversary is printed on the crown while the tail cap is engraved with a serial number.
The fountain pen comes with a new nib that is inspired by the nib design on first Platinum 3776 from 1978. It has a new writing feel with great flexibility. Compared with the hard (for example Fine) and soft (for example Soft Fine) nibs on modern Platinum 3776 Century, the new nib has a softness and flexibility that is allocated between these two nibs. So a new writing experience that you should try!
Fountain pen comes with an exclusive box that contains converter, one ink cartridge and a bottle of Platinum Fuji-kon ink of 20 ml. This ink color is inspired by the image of the dark blue sky over Mt. Fuji turning into reddish hue of the rising sun. Enjoy the writing lines that look reddish depending on the reflection of light.
Limited to 3776 pieces worldwide.
*10th anniversary year of #3776 was 2021. However Platinum launched this limited model in 2022 due to the supply chain problem happened in 2021.
