Sailor 1911 Profit Casual Fountain Pen Black & Gold

Simply: a superb pen. The 1911 Profit line has the classic elegance and style of Cary Grant - or Takakura Ken - in a Savile Row suit. Especially in black and gold. You could sign a peace treaty with it in the best (or worst) company. The build quality is excellent and confirms Sailor's high reputation. The deep-seated ink converter is the best of its kind. The gold-plated steel nib is handsome; and in a blindfold test with a 14K nib it would certainly fool me. This true Japanese EF nib permits precise, legible micro-cursive at about 1mm height (a, e, o). The famous super-smooth-but-with-pencil-like- feedback experience of the Sailor legend is exactly as hoped for; on Rhodia, Clairefontaine, MD, and even Moleskine papers. Consistent and perfect ink flow with zero pressure (pen weight only). The nib is not 'a nail'; it has a nice spring in normal script and enough flex, with care, to permit doubling the downstroke line width if desired. Medium size (= Pelikan 200) and comfortable in my large hand, even unposted. Functionally, this is hard to distinguish from pens many times the price.
