Hobonichi Techo Weeks 2023 Tokyo National Museum: Shibata Zeshin - Plate of Confectionaries Spring

This Hobonichi Techo Weeks is created in collaboration with the Tokyo National Museum and features one of the most beautiful artwork from Shibata Zeshin.

Shibata Zeshin (1807-1891) was born in Ryogoku, Edo, and was an active lacquer artist and painter from the late Edo period until the middle of the Meiji era. He had many lacquering techniques that he created himself, and created many magnificent lacquer wares and paintings.

The print of this cover is called “Plate of Confectionaries.” It has dark pink, light pink, green, yellow, and purple, so between the vibrant color scheme and various shapes of the sweets, the composition is exquisite.

The weekly edition Hobonichi Techo is a compact book that's easy to carry everywhere. The planner inside consists of a weekly calendar on left page and a graph paper page on right. Spring edition starts on April 2023 and ends in March 2024.
